John Trueman, Joint Managing Director (, is responsible for the Design Department, which consists of a team of four Design Engineers/Managers including our new Chartered CIBSE Engineer, Rob Leach

Our building services engineers are committed to delivering best value and optimised performance with buildings that are comfortable, efficient and affordable. Having an absolute focus on service and attention to detail our engineers have a passion for providing high quality designs giving the client confidence that the needs of the building will meet in a cost effective energy efficient manner.
We understand the challenges and opportunities that face clients, architects and others and aim to influence decisions to achieve the best outcomes.

We provide computational analysis to technical drawings to final equipment selection, we provide the full suite of MEP engineering design services including environmental design, building systems performance analysis, lighting and day-lighting design service. Finding a solution to the problem, applying the correct techniques, producing the appropriate information, all in a sensible and realistic manner. We aim to add value by making the whole process clear, concise and cost effective. This benefits all stakeholders.

Neptune’s design team are supported by the latest CAD, BIM and IES environmental computer software to develop the most appropriate and cost effective solution to the design of services within the buildings, exploring various alternative options in the process.

We encourage early consultation and involvement of key stakeholders at the conceptual stage allowing the building services content of any project to be identified and implemented or rejected as appropriate without costly abortive works.

Whether the building is new build project or part of an existing portfolio, whatever the sector our engineers will provide absolute energy and focus, understanding your requirements and using their experience to deliver designs robust solutions.

We identify and maximise opportunities for improving energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions and optimising visual and thermal comfort. We achieve this through careful selection of building elements and refurbishment techniques, low or zero-carbon technologies and to the latest building standards.

We carry out everything from planning reports to renewables to As Built EPCs, bridging the gap between M&E designers and Energy Consultants. Energy efficiency and good engineering should be intertwined, the client doesn’t need to sit between third parties, that’s why we simplify the equation and provide the design team with all the energy related information they will ever need throughout the whole project life cycle.
